Welcome to the 2010 GamesKids Transportation grant application.  

2010 Legacies Now and ActNow BC are pleased to provide transportation grants to youth groups to attend events leading up to and during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

If you wish to attend an Olympic or Paralympic-themed event in BC (see some eligible ActNow BC events here) with a group of children or youth, and require financial assistance with transportation, please fill out the application form to apply for a 2010 GamesKids grant. These grants will be reviewed and administered by 2010 Legacies Now on behalf of ActNow BC. These grants are open to all schools. If your community has yet to host a Torch Relay event, this is an opportunity to bring a group to an Olympic-themed event or another Torch Relay event in a neighbouring town.

Applications must be received by Friday January 29, 2010 at 5pm.

All applications submitted after January 25th will be processed during February; applicants will be notified in March as to whether or not they have qualified.

Successful grant recipients will receive their funds in March.

Eligible Expenses:

Transportation grants are open to:

  • school groups;
  • youth organizations;
  • teams & clubs;
  • community groups; and
  • other agencies that work directly with children or youth.

2010 GamesKids transportation grants may be used to cover the cost of the following when traveling to an Olympic or Paralympic-themed event for children and families in British Columbia:

  • bus or vehicle rental;
  • gas;
  • ferry fees (including reservations); and
  • driver costs.

When applying for a 2010 GamesKids grant, please ensure you have considered the following:

  • method of transportation;
  • you are using a credited and insured transportation company;
  • you have the appropriate number of chaperones; and
  • you are providing healthy snacks.
